Obituary of Lewis W. Hayes
HAYES, Lewis Wendell, age 79 of Lebanon, passed away December 7, 2012. Mr. Hayes was born February 17, 1933. He spent his youth in Madison, TN. He graduated from Isaac Litton High School in 1951 and attended MTSU. Mr. Hayes was employed by Eastern Airlines for 32 years. After his retirement from Eastern, he worked for the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority. He is a member of Lebanon First United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and spent his retirement with Norma traveling, gardening, bird-watching and being a loving and nurturing step-father and grandfather. Mr. Hayes was preceded in death by parents, Wayne and Georgia Hayes. He is survived by the love of his life, Norma F. Gober-Hayes; three step-children, Melanie Gober (Paul) Grand of Bellevue, Miriam G. (Mike) Thompson of GA, and Michael E. (Laurie) Gober of Spring Hill; brother, Don (Sarah) Hayes of VA; nephew, Perry (Jan) Hayes of Memphis; niece, Lynn Hayes of VA; five step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two great-nephews; and one great-niece. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 10th at 10 am at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Pastor Mike Ripski officiating and Assoc. Pastor David Hesson assisting. Interment will follow the service at Hermitage Memorial Gardens with family serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Questors Class and Litton Classmates. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, December 9th 2-4 pm and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson St., Nashville, TN.
