Obituary of Lester A. Mofield

MOFIELD, Lester A., age 89 of Mt. Juliet passed away March 4, 2015. Mr. Mofield served as a Private First Class in the arm y from 1941-1945 in the 7th Armored Division of the 17th Tank Battalion in the European Theatre mostly fighting in Germany in rural pocket of the Rhine River. He also fought in France, Belgium, Poland and Holland. He served under General Patton. Mr. Mofield was preceded in death by parents, John Lester and Lucy Etta Mofield; brother, Sam T. Mofield; and sister, Nancy Mofield Massey. He is survived by wife of 68 years, Nancy Holt Mofield; children, Billy Mofield, Janet (Glen) Eastes, Ann (Bobby) Travis, Leslie (Jim) Pratt, Joyce (Thayer) Walker, Mike (Lori) Mofield and Jeff (Lisa) Mofield; sister, Jennie Etta Rutherford; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 9th at 1 pm at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. Ashley Mofield officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with his grandsons serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are: Stanley Binion, Bobby Travis, Jim Pratt, Thayer Walker and Glen Eastes.
