Betty & Family,
Our love, prayers and deepest sympathy are sent to each of you. As newcomers to Louisville, John made us feel welcome and at ease. Paul will always remember John as a friend and mentor. Paul still cherishes the nickname “Bro” that John used to create a brotherly bond. John had a positive attitude and approach on and off the job. He always looked for the silver lining even in the most difficult of situations. John was “One of a Kind” and touched the lives of everyone he met. His love of Family was a gift he shared with all who knew him. Our lives were deeply enriched by you and John. You shared your love and friendship freely and lovingly with our family. God Bless you and your family in your period of grief. Love and Hugs, Paul and Barb Couvillion

Mr. Stephens has been a light to me. My family met Mr. Stephens over 10 years ago when his grandson, Ryan and my son, Jeremy played high school baseball together. There was no sweeter man on this earth than Mr. Stephens. Heaven surely got sweeter when he entered those pearly gates. I know he would do anything for anyone on this earth. I am so proud to have come to know him. God Bless the family and may the Lord spread his light on all of them.

I was drawn to John's obvious love for God, family and church. His declining health would not prevent him from worshiping his Savior with his family on Sunday mornings at West Haven. Betty has obviously been the love of his life on this earth, and what a marvelous job she has done to love him well. I am thankful for the opportunity to have known a man of such character. You will be missed, John Stephens!

John was the dearest man God ever put on this earth. Every time I visited Lebanon, and saw him, he always said,"Hi, darling. It's so good to see you." He really meant those words. He was so kind to everyone. I grew up in Louisville, where John, Betty, Tom, Tim, and Terry lived in our neighborhood. I went to school with the boys, and my sister, Susie, of course, married Tim. The entire Stephens clan is a blessing to be around, but I always felt it was the gentle upbringing the boys received from their Momma and Daddy! The "Southern Charm" that is evident all around the Stephens clan is amazing to behold!! I always felt lucky to know John, and I will miss his easygoing nature, and his incredible teasing! His sense of humor was always fun to be around. I will treasure the memories of seeing John out in the garden, picking his "veggies", and the times we went out on Tim's boat, and John would sit there, and tell his stories, with his wonderful head of hair, blowing in the wind!

Dear Betty and Family,
The sad news of Johnnies passing reached me while I am traveling in Nebraska. I send my sincerest sympathy to you all. I will always remember John as one of the most accomplished, dedicated and successful DuPont employees I knew...all of that measured in terms of his excellence in carrying out his responsibilities.
