Obituary of Don Wayne Vantrease

Don Wayne Vantrease of Nashville, Tennessee (age 72) born in Lebanon TN, September 29, 1939, died suddenly on Monday October 17, 2011. He is survived by his wife of thirty-six years Brenda Rickman Vantrease and brothers Leon and Fred Vantrease of Lebanon, TN and many nieces and nephews, including grand nieces and nephews, all in whom he delighted. Don was preceded in death by his parents Fred Vantrease and Otelia Graves Vantrease also of Lebanon TN. He was a graduate of Lebanon High School and Cumberland University and attended Belmont University. A member of the National Guard during the Vietnam years, Don was an active member of the American Legion Post Five, serving in various positions including as a board member and Vice-Commander. He was also a life-time member of the National Republican Party. A long time realtor in Nashville, Don served for several years on the Legislative Committee and was principal broker/owner of State Realty. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Nashville and a friend to Immanuel Baptist Church, Nashville. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, but his favorite past time was exploring America's back roads where he never met a stranger. He will be missed for his compassion, his boundless optimism, and his good cheer. Visitation is Thursday, October 20 at Sellars Funeral Home, 313 W. Baddour Pkwy, Lebanon TN, between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. Interment in Peeled Chestnut Cemetery on Sparta Highway in White County TN. Family will serve as Pallbearers Services will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church, 222 Bellemeade Blvd, Nashville TN on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. following 10 a.m. visitation. Officiating will be Pastor Frank Lewis of First Baptist Church and Pastor Steven Meriwether of Immanuel Baptist Church. Memorial gifts may be made to: The Next Door Ministries (P.O.
