Obituary of Danny Lee Helm
Danny "Big Dog" Helm, of Lebanon, passed away on September 3, 2013 at age 64. Mr. Helm graduated from Hartsville in the Class of 1967, served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star among other honors. He was a claims adjuster for Farm Bureau Insurance for 33-plus years. He loved playing golf, and had his own "Big Dog" golf tournament giving to various causes, but his passion was fishing. He made lifelong friends through his work and his hobbies and he loved to give to others without recognition for himself. "Big Dog" was a very unselfish and giving person to those who knew him best. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. and on Thursday from 3 p.m. until the service. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Dennis Hudgins and Brother Gary Drennon, is 5 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013. Survivors include wife of 44 years, Pam Helm; daughter: Celia Helm; father: Bob Helm; brothers: Jerry (Mary Lynn) Helm and Terry (Elizabeth Ann) Helm; mother-in-law: Maynell Huffines; sister-in-law: Linda Putt; numerous nieces and nephew; and best friend: Dennis Powers. He is preceded in death by mother Mollie Elizabeth Roberts and special pet Millie.
