Obituary of Raymond Maurice Turner

Raymond Turner passed away on July 21, 2011 at age 84. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon from 2-8 p.m. on Saturday, July 23rd and from noon until the service on Sunday. The chapel service, conducted by Reverend John Akin, is 2 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011. Interment with full military honors in Cedar Grove Cemetery immediately following the service. Pallbearers: Bill Beavers, Ellis Williams, Robert South, Donald Hale, Barry Williams, Jake Gibbs, Ed Hurley, Hunter Gibbs, and Evan Hurley. Honorary Pallbearers: Cedar Seniors, Mike Holmes, and nurses and doctors of UMC. Special thanks to Dr. Efobi and staff and deacons of Fairview Baptist Church. Mr. Turner, a devoted husband, father and grandfather, was a member of Fairview Baptist Church and served as a retired deacon. He was a member of Rose Crox Eastern Star and Lebanon Free A & M Masons. Mr. Turner was retired after twenty years active service with the United States Air Force. Survivors include wife of 57 years, Nancy Hale Turner; daughters: Vivian (Ed) Hurley, Judy (Jake) Gibbs, and Pamela (Robert) South; and grandchildren: Meredith Holmes, Evan Hurley, Katelyn Gibbs, Hunter Gibbs, and Amanda South. He is preceded in death by parents Virgil and Earlene Vantrease Turner, sisters Evelyn Turner Williams and Jean Turner Williams, brothers Clyde Turner, Harry Turner, and Wallace Turner, and grandchildren Ashley Nicole South and Haley Renee South.
