OUR FIRST CHRISTMAS WITH OUT YOU....Mama....only God knows how my heart hurts with you not being here. Life will never be the same as I've heard you say many times after Granny passed away. We decided it might be a little easier if we had Christmas at Bobby & Linda's this year and we carried on all the Christmas traditions that you and Daddy set before us on Christmas Eve. We prepared all the food like we always did...we all said the Lord's prayer before we sat down to eat...we cleaned up the kitchen...then one of the adults read from Luke in the Bible the story of Jesus' birth...there was six Christmas poems read...we sang all the beautiful old hymns of the Christ child...then all we sang all the "fun" songs, Frosty, Jingle Bells, Santa Clause Is Coming, etc....then and only then did we get to open gifts. Josh handed out the gives this year and at that time wrapping was flying everywhere...all the kids were so excited seeing what they got...laughing and gigging and excitement in the air, cameras flashing from all sides of the room and there was joy being with all of the family and friends. But there was an emptiness that one can only feel when both their parents are not there to share all the happiness...we got through only because we have to learn to live without you. I know for certain that you are walking the streets of gold with Daddy in heaven and I know for certain you are not in anymore pain and that is a comfort...but it doesn't take away the emptiness in my heart. It was predestined by God for you to be on this earth for 80 years, 4 months and 23 days and in that time you touched so many people's lives. You will always be remembered as a very strong warrior for Christ, not ashamed of passing the message of His plan of salvation for eternal life. On the day you left us and I watched you taking your last breath, I'll never know for sure if you were aware of me holding and caressing your hand. I looked at my hands then looked at yours and I realized I was seeing my hands 20 years from now....those hands have worked hard in their life time for your family..they have loved her family and they have disciplined when need be shaping us into who we are; God fearing, family loving adults. You raised us to be close to each other and love each other and that we will continue to do. They say time heals but I don't agree. Losing other family members and Jim, my first husband, leaves scars that never go away...one just learns to live with the scars. It won't be too much longer before we will all meet again. Anyone who read the Bible can sense the feeling and the expectation of the return of our Lord....I'll see you again soon Mama.

Alene was a strong influence on all of those around her. She never failed to preach the gospel to any who would listen. She was a wonderful Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother to all of her family. She will be missed, but I know she is with her loving husband, shouting GLORY, and celebrating her Saviour's birth while in His very presence!
