Obituary of Glorice Nivens Bates

Glorice Bates passed away on December 26, 2012 at age 86. The family will be receiving friends at Sellars Funeral Home in Lebanon (at Stone Mansion, 416 Rome Pike) on Saturday from 2-8 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. until the service. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Carl Price and Reverend Danny Sellars, is 2 p.m. Sunday, December 30, 2012. Interment in LaGuardo Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Ben Bates, James William Baird, Brandon Crabtree, Dylan Gibson, Caleb Gibson, and Ricky Jennings. Honorary Pallbearers: Billy Thorne and Brenda McFarland. The family extends a special thank you to the LaGuardo Baptist Church and N.H.C. Survivors include children: Sam (Rhee) Bates, Susie (Mark) Gibson, and Brenda (Bill) Baird; grandchildren: Jessica Asadsangabi, Courtney Bates, Ben Bates, Dylan Gibson, Caleb Gibson, and James William Baird; two step-grandsons: Jamy Gibson and Ryan Crook; sister-in-laws: Mary Nivens and Dorothy Nivens; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband of 55 years, James I. Bates, parents Joe and Mary Jane Rich Nivens, sisters Velma Ledbetter Oakley, Irene Smith, and Pauline Green, and brothers Durrell Nivens, John Nivens, and Harvey "Red" Nivens.
