I met Gary in the summer of 1972 when I came to work at the Kroger store in Lebanon. Gary took me under his wing, and helped a "wet behind the ears" boy from Watertown adjust to working in the "big city". He was always a friend to me, and I consider it an honor to be called his friend. My condolences to all his family and friends. I hadn't seen him for a few years, but, when I did get to see him, he hadn't changed. He will be missed and remembered fondly.

When I think of Gary, I remember how much he loved his family. One of my favorite memories is the light in Gary's eyes when he discovered the joy of granddaughters after raising boys. Gary would just melt when he talked about the girls. I hope part of the legacy Gary leaves behind in all of us is the willingness to help each other out and give without expecting a return. So sorry I will not be able to attend the service but Matthew, Teresa, LT and Chris, I am thinking and praying for you.

Gary was a wonderful man. I had the pleasure of working with him a few years at Gallatin Kroger. He was very friendly and fair to everyone. He let us have fun at work, something not many managers were capable of!!! He loved his family and would lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He will surely be missed by all of his Kroger family and friends. Go rest high on that mountain, Gary!!!

Dear Boykin family,
I'm so sorry for your loss, may God hold you in the palm of his hand during this difficult time. Gary was such a gentleman; he was kind and considerate of others and always had a smile to share. I will always remember that he cared - he would have given the shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. I know he's watching and smiling!

I want to extend my sympathies to you. Gary was a fine man. He was so excited to help with our class reunion this year. We so wanted him to come and enjoy the fruits of his efforts, but he was just too sick. I will always remember his excitement and his smiling face. May God be with you during this difficult time.
