Obituary of Chesta Ann O'Neal

Chesta Ann Ford O'Neal, 84, of Gallatin, TN joined her elementary school sweetheart and husband of nearly 68 years when she left this earth on July 1, 2011. Ann, born on May 21, 1927, was the ninth child of Kennie Lee Cornelius and Florence Barber Ford. In March 1944 Ann married Ross Gilbert O'Neal who preceded her in death. During their brief seven months apart, Ann spoke of her sweetheart every day. All who knew Ross and Ann were witnesses to their eternal love, devotion and commitment to each other and their family. Ann's children share memories of her continual love and support for their goals and accomplishments. She spent countless hours driving and encouraging her children in their volunteer work as well as community and church activities. She was her children's cheerleader by word and deed. Ann and Ross taught their children the value of family, friendship, loyalty, integrity and honest work. Ann was a dear friend and neighbor to all who knew her. They were always available to help anyone in need. Their children have received words of gratitude from people across the country who have benefitted from their kindness and generosity over the years. Ross always credited Ann with her ability to stretch his humble income as they provided well for their four children. Ann and Ross worked together in many capacities throughout their lives. Both were faithful in their service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Together they served as missionaries in the Billings, MT Mission. They served both welfare missions and temple missions together. Ann was the loving mother of Danny Ford O'Neal (Joni) of Tualatin, OR, Deborah Lynn O'Neal, Woodstock, GA, Kenneth Ross O'Neal (Cindy) of Valley Springs, CA. A son, Kerry Dale O'Neal, preceded her in death in 1982. Ann is survived by six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren who honor and respect this woman of great virtue.
