On April 22, 1923, Hassie Mai was born in Macon County, Tennessee to the late Jasper Key Hoskins and Betty Emma Audney Mai Krantz Hoskins. Hassie Mai was one of ten children born to this union.
She was married to the love of her life, William "Bill" Henry Perdue on February 2, 1941, sharing sixty-three years together. During their life together two daughters and two sons were born. Hassie Mai and Bill build a home together, that she cherished. She loved taking care of her home and her family.
Hassie Mai never knew how to drive, so she would talk to her friends on the phone. After the crop was harvested one year, Bill tried to teach her to drive, in the tobacco field. She sent them on a voyage though the fields, woods, and hollow before ending up in the middle of the pond. Bill had a hard time convincing her to get out because a green snake had land on the truck, Hassie Mai never tried again.
She was saved as a young girl and later on joined Rocky Mound Missionary Baptist Church with Bill and daughter, Kathy.
You would always find Hassie Mai and Bill together, but on August 11, 2004, Bill went on to Heaven.
Besides her husband and parents; daughter, Linda Gale Perdue, son, James Henry Perdue, sister, Ruleen Bradley, and brothers, Merdie Hoskins, Earl Hoskins, Norman Hoskins, Herb Hoskins, and Genie Hoskins, also preceded her in death.
Hassie Mai's family was what her life revolved around. There was nothing more important than spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. You could see Hassie Mai's face light up, when they came around.
Hassie Mai enjoyed working in her flowers and her garden. Most of the time, you could find Hassie Mai in the kitchen, canning the harvest of the garden or cooking for the family.
The family will have a great loss, but Hassie Mai is happy now, she is with Bill in Heaven.
