Obituary of Velma C. Jackson

Velma C. Jackson was born in Macon County, Tennessee to the late George Wesley Gregory and Jessie Emoline Doss Gregory on September 11, 1927. Velma was one of three children born to this union. Besides her parents; grandson, Jason Robinson, and brother, Elmer Lee Gregory, also preceded her in death. Velma was married to the love of her life, James Allen Jackson on April 7, 1956, sharing fifty-five years together. They raised seven children during their time together. Velma and James loved their family and had a great love for each other. You would always find Velma and James out together. Velma always put her family first in her life. As a young lady, Velma enjoyed sewing and making clothing for her family. Later, cooking for her family and taking care of the grandbabies keep Velma's day busy. Velma was saved and joined Days Cross Roads Missionary Baptist Church, where she remains a member. Velma passed away late on Sunday evening March 18, at her home. Funeral services for Velma were conducted on Wednesday, March 21, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Danny Holland and Elder Jimmy Claiborne officiating. John Case, Jr., and Cliff Goad served as Honorary Pallbearers. Clint Robinson, Joseph Gregory, Shannon Robinson, Daniel Robinson, Derrick Gass, Dylan Gass, Michael Reeves, and Jonathan Robinson served as Active Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Day Cemetery. Her family and friends will have a great loss but Velma is rejoicing, she is with the Lord in Heaven. Velma is survived by; Husband, James Jackson, Daughters, Thelma (Cliff) Goad, Judy Robinson, Betty Carver, Sharon Gregory, and Lisa (Audie Jr.) Gregory, Sons, Mickey (Teresa) Jackson, and Kenny (Julia) Jackson all of Lafayette, TN, Brother, George (Betty) Gregory, Jr. of Nashville, TN, fourteen Grandchildren, and sixteen Great Grandchildren.
