Just looking at your picture makes me think of all the good times you provided for me. All the crazy jokes, the endless giggles and the very helpful advice about almost everything. You set an excellent example as to how to treat people, also. Having you around for a part of my life helped me become a nicer person by the examples you set and the concern you showed for me.
You were a strong lady even though you were tiny. You were also prepared many times for unfortunate events that many ladies of your era would have been devastated by. You were a feminist who new how to maintain a strong presence but still maintain her feminity and charm. To coin an old phrase, you were an iron fist in a silk glove.
I watched you babysit one of my nephews and spoil him so shamelessly that he insisted you carry him around the house instead of walking! I am blessed that some of that love and nuturing was given to me as well. You helped me understand what it means to say you will love someone forever. You are part of me and I will miss you, of course. But, I have so many meaningful memories that a part of you will always be in my life.
I''m going to miss talking to you because you always surprised me with your spirit, optimism and zest for life. You were honest too, like when you felt bad. But you kept going and I hope I can be a good niece and follow the example you set for me. You''ll always be in my heart.

I have been friends with Hester for 8 years. I met her because she shared a room at Bethany Health Care Center with my aunt. After my aunt went back to her home, I continued to visit with Hester. She was such a nice person and had quite a sense of humor. I will truly miss visiting her each week. I extend my deepest sympathy to Junior and Carol.
