Obituary of James L. Deckard

James Leland Deckard was born in Monroe County, KY, on January 30, 1950 to the late Johnny D. Deckard and Jewell Sisco. He was one of seven siblings born to this union. As a young man he was married to Joyce Ann Rice on February 20, 1971. Together they shared two sons, James Deckard and Danny Deckard. Besides his parents, two brothers, Milton Deckard and Michael Deckard, also preceded him in death. James worked as a self-employed mason for thirty-five years before retiring in 2007 due to his failing health. James loved being around his children and grandchildren. He also loved building race car engines and racing. Even while he was ailing he still loved to do masonry work. He was a dedicated member of the Lafayette Church of God. On Saturday October 27, 2012 the Lord called James home. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, but James is now at home in heaven. Funeral services for James Deckard will be conducted Tuesday at 2 pm from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Carson officiating. Stevie Barton, Jason Bartley, Eric Likens, Mike Freeze, Terry Rice, James Lewis Deckard, Garnet Kee, Johnathan Kee served as Pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Haysville Cemetery. James is survived by; Wife, Joyce Deckard, Sons, James Deckard, and Danny Deckard all of Lafayette, TN, Granddaughters, Bethany Deckard, and Ashley Deckard both of Gallatin, TN, Sisters, Barbara Walker of Lafayette, TN, Wanda Ray of Red Boiling Springs, TN, Carol (Howard) McCarter of the Rocky Mound Community in Macon County, and Connie Jenkins of Lafayette, TN.
