Obituary of Wilma Shrum
Wilma Shrum was born in Macon County, Tennessee on January 1, 1935 to the late Haywood Newton Reid, better known as Newt, and Mary Lillian Whittemore Reid Freeman. She was one of seven siblings born to this union.
As Wilma grew-up, she was raised by a very special mother, Doyle Butler.
Wilma was married to Delbert Odell Shrum on May 21, 1956, sharing twenty-six years together. They raised one son, Jerry, and three daughters, Debbie, Pattie, and Pam. Delbert passed away on April 13, 1982.
Family was what Wilma's life revolved around. Wilma always made sure her family's needs were taken care of, before her own. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She worked as a cook for Village Market in Lafayette for several years.
Wilma had a sweet personality, always wearing a smile and having something nice to say to everyone.
Besides her husband and parents; son, Bruce Shrum, grandchildren, Kyle Shrum, Amy Shrum Barnes, and Chris McClanahan, and brother, Theo Justice also preceded Wilma in death.
Wilma attended Lafayette Missionary Baptist Church.
On Sunday, September 1, 2013 the Lord called Wilma home. She will be missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.
