Obituary of J. T. Doss

J. T. Doss was born in Macon County, Tennessee on March 9, 1926 to John Berlin Doss and Zula Bohanon Doss. He was one of three siblings born to this union. In the mid.1940's, J. T. served in the United States Army/Air force during World War II as a Tech Sergeant. After returning home to the states, J. T. began doing carpenter work in the Macon County area. He loved to take a ride through the country side pointing out homes he had worked on, showing off his workmanship. J. T. also enjoyed seeing tobacco grow and watching how it progressed throughout the season. He loved to go to bull sales with his friends, every chance he got. Later on, J.T. married the former Lois Grey Gregory on April 12, 1983, sharing twenty-five years together. He leaves behind son, Stephen, daughters, Sandra and Mary Jane, and step-son, Jimmy. J. T.'s wife Lois passed away in 2008. Besides his wife and parents; sister, Durene Doss Jones, and Brother, Billy Lewis Doss also preceded him in death. J. T. was a member of the White Oak Church of Christ. On September 25, 2013, at the age of 87, the Lord called J. T. home. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Funeral services for J. T. Doss were conducted Friday at 2 PM from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with E. C. Meadows officiating. Bart Jones, Ty Jones, Tommy Doss, Cliff York, and Jimmy Andrews served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Underwood Cemetery with Military Honors. J. T. is survived by; Son, Stephen Doss, Daughters, Sandra (Joseph) Doss all of Trenton, New Jersey, Mary Jane Maggio of New York City, Step-Son, Jimmy and Cornelia Andrews of Chaipin, South Carolina, Nephews, Gordan and Susan Jones of Bowling Green, KY, Terry and Melinda Doss, David and Teresa Doss all of Lafayette, Special Friend, Dean Smith of Toledo, Ohio, Sister in Law, Jean and Benny Law of the Mt Union Community, Four Grandchildren, one Great-Nephew, three Great-Nieces, and three Great-Great-Nephews.
