On January 25, 1942 at a USO Dance in Pensacola, Florida he met a young lady, Nancy Asbury, who would later become his wife. Lloyd went off to serve in the Navy during World War II from January 25, 1944 to December 21, 1945 as an Electrician's Mate. He also trained as a Structural Iron Worker and Engineer. Not long after returning home to the states, he married the young Nancy Asbury on February 19, 1946. Their son, Edward Allen Middaugh died November 17, 2006; he was also a Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Besides Lloyd's parents and son, several brothers, and sisters also preceded him in death. Lloyd worked as an Iron worker and was a member of the Iron Workers Association. He retired in 1982 as a Safety Inspector. Being together traveling was something Lloyd and Nancy both loved to do, and they had seen the world. Around 1980, they bought a farm and retired to Lafayette, Tennessee to be with family. Lloyd enjoyed being outside and tending to his farm.
