Windell Hoskins

Obituary of Windell Hoskins

Windell Hoskins was born on April 7, 1930 to the late Johnie Mack Hoskins and Mary Olie Hauskins Hoskins. He was one of two siblings born to this union. On March 1, 1948, Windell married the love of his life, Elsie Lucille Frye. They were blessed with sixty-three wonderful years together and brought six children into the world. Two sons and daughters-in-law, Johnny Randall and Lynn Hoskins of Lafayette, Terry and Dejuana Hoskins of Hermitage, TN, three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Bill Mitchell of Bethpage, TN, Lisa Hoskins and Gary Brown of Moss, TN, and Teresa Rollin and the late Terry Rollin of Westmoreland, 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and three on the way, and a niece, Paulette Claiborne, also survive. Windell, known as "Pa Wink" by the grandchildren, was a farmer. He worked hard, long hours in the fields. Most of time, Granny was right by Pa Wink's side. He also worked awhile in a factory and drove a school bus. Pa Wink and Granny worked hard to provide for the family. They never had a lot of worldly things, but they sure had a lot of love for their family. Granny Elsie passed away on October 23, 2011. Pa Wink was a talker and loved everyone he met, whether you were family or not, didn't matter. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly the light in his eyes. At all of our get-togethers he would sit at the head of the table and he would proudly say "Look at the mess me and granny made". But there is no end to the love Pa and Granny had for each one of us all. The Love was equally returned to them. He was a very caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. Pa Wink was Missionary Baptist and got saved as a young man at a tent revival in the Wixtown Community. He truly loved his Lord. Besides his wife and parents also preceded him in death was a daughter, Carolyn Ann Hoskins, granddaughter, Amanda Mae Rollin, great-grandchildren, Kenna Nicole England and Andrew Oakley England, brother, Elder J.C. Hoskins, sister-in-law, Ruby Hoskins, son-in-law, Terry Lee Rollin, and nephew, Jerry Mack Hoskins. On Sunday, October 13, 2013, at the age of 83, the Lord called Pa Wink home. He is happy now, Granny is once again by his side and showing him the wonders of Heaven, our loss is Heavens' Gain. Funeral Services for Windell Hoskins were conducted Sunday, October 20, 2013 at 11 am from the Chapel of Alexander Funeral Home with Reverend Harold King and Brother Jerry Gammons officiating.
