Obituary of Mae Magalene Doss
Mae Magalene Driver was born on July 2, 1924 to the late Freely A. Driver and Isabelle Stinson Driver. She was one of five siblings.
Mae grew-up in the Haysville Community of Macon County, Tennessee. At the age of nineteen Mae met her sweetheart, J.T. Doss and married on July 24, 1943, sharing fifty-seven years together. They had one son, Jerry who passed away as an infant and raised two daughters, Hilda and Gail.
Mae and J.T. ran a country store for seventeen years. Then later in life, she worked on the assembly line for Carter Automotive for fourteen years, before retiring.
When she was at home, Mae stayed busy gardening, canning, and cooking. Mae was known for her cooking and loved fixing meals for her family and friends.
She liked to do a lot of sewing and quilting in the winter months.
Mae was a sweet, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was very dedicated to her family and their needs.
Her love and life-long companion, J.T. passed away on May 23, 2000.
Besides her husband and parents; daughter, Gail Flynn, son, Jerry Doss, sisters, Lattie Borders, and Katherine Brown, and brother, Louie Driver, also preceded Mae in death.
Mae was a member of Haysville Methodist Church.
On November 8, 2013, at the age of 89, Mae left this world for a better home. She is now reunited with J. T., and her children that have went before her. Mae will be deeply missed, but we have our memories to cherish.
Funeral Services for Mae Doss were conducted Monday, November 11, 2013 at the Alexander Funeral Home with Elder Jeff Blackwell officiating. Dalton Driver, Matthew Aplin, Bob Alpin, Tim Alpin, Jerry Driver, and Wayne Flynn served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Haysville Cemetery.
Mae is survived by; Daughter and Son-in-law, Hilda (Bob) Aplin of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Granddaughters, Tammy (Jerry) Driver of Lafayette, TN, Connie (Frank) Williams of Urbandale, Iowa, Grandson, David (Andrea) Flynn of Lafayette, TN, Tim (Amie) Aplin of Ithaca, Michigan, Great-grandchildren, Colton, Tejay, Matthew, and Allie Aplin, Dalton and Brooklyn Driver, Aidan and Ella Flynn, Ava and Frankie Williams, Sister, Anna (Junior) Carter of Scottsville, KY, Son-in-law, Wayne Flynn of Lafayette, TN, and Great-great-grandchildren, Ayden and Bryson Aplin.
