Richard Sullivan

Obituary of Richard Franklin Sullivan

Richard Franklin Sullivan was born on September 18, 1918 to the late William David Sullivan and Nervie Love Sullivan. He was one of nine siblings. As a young man at home, weekends were spent with a yard full of kids from the community. They would play baseball, marbles, and horseshoes to keep them occupied. In June of 1943, Richard married the former Louise Wix; they shared sixty-four wonderful years together. They raised one daughter, Rebecca, whom they dearly loved. His wife Louise passed away on May 8, 2008. Besides Louise and his parents; seven brothers, Leslie, Andy, Woodrow, Jay, Cap, George and James Thomas Sullivan, and one sister, Clara Sullivan also preceded Richard in death. Richard was raised on a farm and continued farming after he and Louise were married. He enjoyed working with his hands and laboring out in the fields with his mule. From a young man until now, Richard had seen a lot of changes in Agriculture, and in this world. Richard's family was of great importance to him. He was a loving husband and father, but truly enjoyed every minute spent with his grandson. Richard was saved as a young boy at Fairview Missionary Baptist Church and attended there. On November 15, 2013, at the age of 95, the Lord called Richard to his new home. He will be deeply missed down here by family and friends, but our loss is Heaven's Gain. Funeral services for Richard Sullivan were conducted Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 2 pm from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Brother Jerry Watson officiating.
