Obituary of Obera Jane Morgan
Obera Jane Massey Morgan was born on December 2, 1923 to the late Jessie Beasley and Thellie Lee Oldham Massey. Obera was one of nine children born to this union.
As a young woman, Obera was married to J. C. Morgan on January 24, 1942. Together they shared thirty wonderful years and raised a son, Walyn. Besides her parents, husband, and son, Obera was preceded in death by; Sister, Thelma Gregory and Brothers, Burton Massey, Junior Massey, and Maurice Massey. Obera worked for over thirty years of her life as a seamstress at Form Fit Rogers from where she retired around 1985. After her retirement, she continued to be active on various boards in the community. She was a Director for Farm Bureau for 15 years, and she also served on the Macon County Election Commision and the Macon County Public Library Board. Obera was a very loving mother, grandmother, and friend to many people in her neighborhood and church. She was affectionately called "Grandmother" by many. Obera was a true example of what a Christian should be. Most importantly, she was saved as a young girl at Dixon Creek Missionary Baptist Church, and she was a long time member of Rocky Mound Missionary Baptist Church. She loved her Church above all things in life and she was always willing to talk about the Lord to anyone with whom she came in contact. On Friday, November 22, 2013 at the age of eighty-nine, the Lord called Obera home. She will be missed greatly by her family and all who knew and loved her, but the memories that we all have of the life that she lived will remain with us for many years to come.
