Obituary of Della Veller Bowlin

Della Veller Bowlin was born on September 6, 1919 to the late Joe Phillip Cook and Nora Abigail Jones Cook. She was one of seven siblings born to this union. She was married on October 20, 1962 to James W. Bowlin. They have shared fifty-one wonderful years together. Della had one daughter, Willa Dean Smith, who preceded her in death. Besides her parents and daughter; brothers, Jack Cook, Quadie Cook, and J.P. Cook, and sister, Rose Ella Cook also preceded Della in death. Della was a homemaker; that stayed very busy providing for her family. She loved to cook and work in her kitchen. Della always worked in the garden and enjoyed canning everything that she grew. In the winter time, Della enjoyed quilting and had made several quilts before her eyes failed her. The family would thread the needle so Della could still put her love in the quilts. She always enjoyed sitting and watching the grandchildren and their friends play. When Christmas time came around Della and the family would gather around and play games. She was an amazing and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Della attended Lafayette Methodist Church, where she was a member. On Sunday, November 24, 2013, at the age of 94, the Lord called Della home. She is through with her labors down here. Della is now reaping her rewards and seeing the beauties of Heaven. Della will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but our loss is Heaven's Gain. Funeral services for Della Bowlin were Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at 2 pm from the Chapel of the Alexander Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Martin officiating. Louie Tucker, Larry Tucker, Tony Hale, Earl Smith, Wallace Gammon, Novis Lancaster, Justin Carver, and Willie Willis served as Pallbearers. Interment followed in the Akersville Cemetery. Della is survived by, Husband, James W. Bowlin of Lafayette, TN, Sisters, Inell Lancaster of Lafayette, TN, Tommie Yokley of Lovington, Ill, Granddaughter, Juanita (Tony) Hale of Lafayette, TN, and Grandson, T. J. Hale of Lafayette, TN.
