Obituary of Jim H. Rowe, Jr.

James Herbert Rowe, Jr. born November 17, 1936 in Buford, GA. He joined God and the Angels on February 5, 2017 at home with family by his side. Jim was a Civil Engineer for most of his adult life. He attended Georgia Tech University where he earned his degrees in engineering there and in New York also. Jim was a real country boy by heart. He plowed the fields as a young boy and farmed. He moved to Hohenwald, TN when he was 12 and later graduating at Hohenwald School. Hard work was never a challenge for him. As an adult, he worked in Mississippi, California, New York, and Colorado where he had his own business as an Engineer. He also lived and worked in Atlanta and Arizona. When he returned to Tennessee, he helped construct large buildings and worked on most hospitals in this area. He often said that the best job offer he had was when he was hired to be the Chief Engineer on the Bell South "Batman Building" in downtown Nashville. He fell 20 feet on a construction job in Kentucky two weeks before he was to start that job. His injuries were great. His back fused to his neck. He was told he would never walk again but he said I will and he did. He said it was meant to be. He married his soulmate, Linda, on June 11, 1994. His life was fun and happy. We traveled some and the Beach, he loved. Over the years, we had 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grans and he put them high on his priority list. We didn't miss ball games or school events and he loved them so. Recently a new baby Maddux arrived and a new great Gran Bea! He was just elated! He always supported and encouraged them. He retired and did remodeling, decks, etc. until his health began to fail him in 2012 following neck surgery. He was hospitalized many times and he wanted to be at home with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, James Herbert Rowe, Sr. and his mother, Annie Lou Richardson. He is survived by his beloved soulmate and wife, Linda Ervin Rowe; a sister, Janice Bullard (Aubrey); children, Derek Shields Rowe (Tricia), Colin Rowe, Randy Wallace, Connie Roder (Steve), Kristi Mathis Darian) and Brody Wallace (Beth); grandchildren, Lauren Rowe, Amber Wilkinson (Brad), Tucker Wallace, Dylan Mathis, Zachary Wallace, Karly Mathis, Parks Wallace, Sara Mac Wallace, and Maddux Wallace; great-grandchildren, Skylar Rowe, Silas Rowe and Beatriz "Bea" Wilkerson. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 8th at 11 am at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with John Antol officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mt. Juliet Memorial Gardens with Brody Wallace, Darian Mathis, Steve Roder, Brad Wilkinson, Tucker Wallace, Dylan Mathis, Zachary Wallace and Parks Wallace serving as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, February 7th from 4-8 pm and Wednesday, February 8th from 10 am until time of service.
