Obituary of Dorothy G. Kuykendall

Dorothy G. Kuykendall, age 89 of Gallatin, passed away Thursday, August 24, 2017.  Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 26th at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Alexander Heritage Funeral Home (100 Albert Gallatin Ave.), with Brian Jarrett and Doyle Farris officiating.   Visitation will be Friday, August 25th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 26th from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.  In addition, there will be a Funeral Service Sunday, August 27th at Spry-Williams Funeral Home in Sheffield, AL at 3:00 p.m. with visitation Sunday, August 27th from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Sheffield Oakwood Cemetery in Sheffield, AL.

Mrs. Kuykendall was born December 24, 1927 in Sheffield, AL, to the late George W. Horton and Lena Vaughn Horton.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by son, Robert L. Kuykendall; great-grandson, William Smith; brothers, Percy Horton, Horace H. Horton, Abner M. Horton, Dan Horton, and Mitchell Horton; and sister, Beatrice Cottrell.  She is survived by son, Persie L. Kuykendall, Jr. (Rita) of Kentucky; daughters, Doris Sisco (James) of Bethpage and Linda Kuykendall of Gallatin; brother, William H. “Bobby” Horton of South Carolina; daughter-in-law, Rita Kuykendall of Portland; 8 grandchildren, Shannon Dillard (Joe), Carey Anne Nyswonger (William), Chris Kuykendall (Nicki), Jennifer Wooden (Robert), Amy Allen (Jason), Brian Sisco, Stacy Smith (William), and Michael Racine (April); and 16 great grandchildren.  In Lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Potter Children’s Home and Family Ministries, 2350 Nashville Rd., Bowling Green, KY 42101.  Online condolences may be submitted at familyheritagefh.com.  Alexander Heritage Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
