Obituary of Thelma Bruce Piper

Thelma Bruce Piper, age 87 of Brentwood, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018.  Gathering of Friends will be Saturday, October 6th at Alexander family Heritage Funeral Home, 100 Albert Gallatin Avenue from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  Interment will be Monday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Nashville National Cemetery, everyone is to meet at the cemetery.

Mrs. Piper was born October 15, 1930 in Gallatin to the late Julius T. Bruce and Ida Caldwell Bruce.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by husband, Thomas Earl Piper; sisters, Alberta Saunders, Louise Davis, Bessie Taylor, Ada Brobeck, Elizabeth Leskoff, Dorothy Wilson, and Helen Digby; and brothers, Tommy Bruce and Eddie Bruce.  She is survived by Sister-in-law Mary Lee Smith and family; Special caregiver; Nancy Brobeck and husband/nephew Glenn Brobeck; niece Kay Brobeck; several other nieces and nephews; lifelong best friend, Joyce Jackson; and her best friend on the Show Dog circuit, Jan Sammons.

As a young woman, Mrs. Piper met her loving husband on a sunny beach in Florida and soon embarked on 20 years of interesting travel as an Air Force military wife before returning to settle in Brentwood where she raised many champion Shih Tzu.
