Bill and I served aboard the U.S.S. Gearing (DD-710) in 1965-1966. He was a Postal Clerk and I was a Fire Control Technician. Bill’s smiling face always brought joy to our crewmembers because he had mail from our families and friends back in the states while we were underway. I met up again, after forty-four years, with Bill in 2010 when he attended his first Gearing Reunion in Charleston, South Carolina. Bill and Faye hosted our 2014 Reunion in Nashville, Tennessee and played an important part in our Association. Bill served as the Chairman of the Gearing Association for the past four years. Thanks for being part of the Gearing legacy and sharing your life with us.
