Obituary of Mary Lou Thompson

Ms. Mary Lou Thompson, age 66 of Portland, TN passed away peacefully on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Westmoreland Care and Rehab in Westmoreland, TN. Ms. Thompson was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on September 11, 1955 the daughter of the late Peggy Fay and William Douglas Thompson. As a military child, she went to eight different schools before graduating from Cookeville High School in 1973. She graduated from Tennessee Technological University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics and a Master’s Degree in Business. She taught school at Tri-County Vocational Center in Red Boiling Springs, TN and Beech High School in Hendersonville, TN. She worked as Regional Human Resource Officer with Ekard Drug Stores and Human Resource Director for the City of Portland. Ms. Thompson is survived by; Donna Faye Treadway (Larry) of Portland, TN, Julia Ann Hensley (Charles) of Mt. Juliet, TN, Joe Douglas Thompson (Kelli) of Caryville, TN along with several nieces, great-nephews and great nieces. Ms. Thompson was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 4, 2021 at Friendship Cemetery in Hartsville, TN with Brother Larry Treadway officiating. Eastern Star Services will follow the funeral services at the graveside.
