Obituary of Sterling Alexander Seat

SEAT, Sterling Alexander, Jr., age 62 of Mt. Juliet passed away May 10, 2014. Mr. Seat graduated from DuPont High School in 1969. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Education from Belmont in 1976 and his Master's Degree in Education from MTSU in 1979. He taught mathematics at many schools over the years including Metro Nashville, Wilson County and Sumner County Schools. He also taught at Vol State Community College for 26 years. Mr. Seat was preceded in death by parents, Sterling and Dorothy Seat; and grandson, Landon Alexander Seat. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Peggy Rorie Seat; children, Jennifer Michelle Seat and Sterling "Andy" Alexander Seat, III; sister, Terry (Rick) Binkley; grandchildren, Jordan, Skylar and Ethan Seat; niece, Rebecca (Dan) Tatum; nephew, Alex Hollis; and great-nephew, Kellan Tatum Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 13th at 11 am at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet with Bro. Kenny Westmoreland officiating. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Park with nephews and friends serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are: Bobby Hollis, Paul Lamb, Chalmer Nidiffer, Zeland Baxter and Jimmy Gist. Visitation with the family will be Monday, May 12th from 3-8 pm and Tuesday, May 13th from 10 am until time of services. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Summit Medical Center, Alive Hospice, Mid Cumberland Transportation and DCI Summit.
