My heart breaks over the passing of this dear, dear friend. When Angie moved to Waverly, we were in the second grade. Our parents were old friends & we were destined to be the same. She was the first real "girl friend" I remember having. She loved horses, dogs, hamsters & just about anything that had fur. She was bright, imaginative, creative and had a wonderful laugh.
In the last year, I spoke with her a couple of times. Mostly about family, old times & our kids. You could tell her girls were her life. She had a a spark in her voice when the conversation turned to them. She was so proud of them. Her love for family was obvious.
I go to church & live in the same town as her father & you will not find a more loving, concerned & devoted father. Her mother was always by her side as she was when I visited Angie in the hospital several years ago after one of her strokes.
Angie was deeply loved and will be sadly missed.
In deep sadness & sympathy,
Meleia Rushton Schwerdtfeger

Angela was my sister Malinda’s partner in crime. I met Angela in the early 1990’s when her girls were still very young. While attending MTSU, I would visit my sister during the weekends & holidays where Angela was always in the mix of things. She was beautiful, full of energy and glowing with life. Zooming around town in that bright red Volvo with kids, dogs, creatures and all. That is…. when she wasn’t “accidentally” bumping into a curb, pole, another car, bushes, the valet attendant, etc. I soon learned that our Angela was let’s say not a very patient driver. We spent many afternoons playing darts, mini golfing & plain old fashioned fun. If you were around Angela & Malinda you could be certain of a few things: You never had to wait for a table or make line anywhere, you would most certainly get better attention from the staff than anyone else & you never had to pay for much since they received some sort of beautiful woman discount. They knew where all the action, best music and excitement was even before Nashville was hip. For me, a then 18 year old, it couldn’t get better than that. Since I moved away from the area, I have never met anyone quite like Angela. Her down to earth style and transparency was quite the mesmerizing combination. It was evident to anyone who met her that she was genuinely considerate of others and actually cared about things. During her tough times, I saw her & Malinda share lots of tears and heartbreak. Looking back on those times, it is inexplicable to me how positive they both remained regardless of the bleak situation. Despite the many years between visits and distant care free days, a simple hug & smile from Angela would instantly let you know nothing had really changed at all. I regret not being able to tell see her one more time and share one last hug, but I will remember her as she was when she was at her best. I think she would want that from all of us that knew her well. Olivia & Jillian, you were everything to her. I can only offer you my heart-felt condolences. Be strong for her and always know that we will not ever forget what a great friend your Mommy was to us.

Angie was beautiful inside & out. Probably the kindest & most gentle person I've ever known. I am deeply saddened to hear of her passing. She will be sadly missed yet fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of meeting & knowing her. My prayers & condolenses to the family.
