Yesterday, one of the greatest teachers I have ever known passed away. Her name was Sue Comer, known as "Ma" to me. She was a teacher who expected her students to learn what she taught. She had a unique way of helping students want to do their best for her. I am very thankful this lady was a big part of my life after I left LHS. She stayed after school on numerous occasions through the years and did labs for students at Southside. She visited my classroom with her famous Joe and was a big hit with the children every time. Ma became my personal trainer in the early 80's. She walked me to death and made me exercise and go to workout classes. I can hear her now, "Come on, Di." I lost sevnty-five pounds after several months of her watching after me and encouraging me. I never talked to her in person or on the phone that she didn't end our conversation with, "I love you." Ma, you were "such a person. " I love you.

Undoubtedly, Mrs. Comer was an influential educator to many of us who had her as a teacher at Lebanon High School. She will be missed! My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Sue Comer provided Rocky Valley Baptist Church with wonderful music from the piano and organ for many years. But much more was her wonderful optimistic spirit. Her faithfulness was unsurpassed, her support was always positive. Heaven is a much better place with folks like Sue Comer. Gaylon & Betty Wiley

I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Comer. I didn't have her as a teacher personally but I did talk to her in the hallways. She was a sweet lady and from what I know a wonderful teacher. She will be missed and I am keeping the family in my prayers. Rest In Peace Mrs. Comer. Sincerely Kristen McCall class of 2004.

The news of Mrs. Comer's passing is sad news. She was one of the best teachers I ever had. She was stern but so very caring in wanting you to learn and understand her teaching. She will missed.

I agree with the comments I have read and heard about Sue Comer.
My mom was, I agree, an excellent teacher -she touched the lives of hundreds of students. She loved to teach-teaching was her passion and a true calling for her. I really believe she was born to teach!
She was a good mother to me and she was a wonderful grandmother to my children. Mom had so much love to give, and she was most generous with her love. Mom joins the ranks of some of her teacher friends, other LHS teachers of her generation who have passed most recently - Sue Young and Evelyn Babb; and Betty Rushing, not so recently. I wish I could personally contact everyone who loved Sue Comer. I wish I could thank all those who asked about her over the years. But these are impossible tasks. But I do thank all of you for your kind words, humorous stories, and fond (or maybe not so fond!) memories of my mom.
