Obituary of Brittney Michelle Henslee

HENSLEE, Brittney, age 27 of Mt. Juliet passed away March 6, 2015 near her home in Asheville, NC. Brittney was born on June 12th, 1987 in Lebanon, TN to David and Michelle Henslee. Brittney graduated from Donelson Christian Academy in 2005 where she excelled as a student athlete. Upon graduation Brittney attended Samford University. Brittney pursued her passion for Christian mission discipleship in Honolulu, HI attending the Youth With a Mission Discipleship Training School. Brittney then went on to serve in the mission fields in Uganda, Africa and New Delhi, India spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ. Brittney continued her service to the Lord by mentoring children at Highland Christian Church in Asheville, NC, and also in the development of Mt. Juliet Afterschool Connection. As a member of the Asheville, NC community Brittney felt a calling to begin an after school and summer camp program that provided parents affordable child care along with developing future generations. Her ideas became a reality in the creation of Elevate Afterschool and Summer Camp where she served as the director. She was preceded in death by great-grandparents, Bro. Walter & Nelda Sellars and John & Mary Pal Damatus; grandfather, Eddie "Pa" Sellars, Sr.; grandmother, Sandra "Nana" Henslee; and cousin, Kirk Anderson. Brittney is survived by parents, David & Michelle Sellars Henslee; grandparents, M. D. (Glenda) Henslee; grandmother, Barbara Sellars; aunts & uncles, Vonda (Greg) Paris, Eddie (Kristi) Sellars, Linda Anderson, Ronnie Henslee, Danny (Mary) Henslee, Patsy (Hayward) Phillips, Evon Adkerson, Donna (Bobby) Thompson, Billy (Jan) Sellars, Ronnie (Beverly) Sellars, and Rev. Danny (Kathy) Sellars; cousins, Kelsey and Chloe Paris, Addison, Blakely, Mackenzie and Millie Grace Sellars, James (Melia) Anderson and Pamela Anderson; and special friends, Hailey Huffman Keene, Lacy Johnston, Hope Hamilton Schumacher, Tory Watkins Cherry, Christy Gold, Becca Lewis Smith, Haylee and Jack Gold, Doreen Garris and Janie (James) Melton. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12th at 2 pm at Mt. Juliet Family Worship Center, 495 N. Mt. Juliet Road, Mt. Juliet, TN with Rev. Danny Sellars and Bro. Jason Garris officiating. Interment will follow the service at Wilson County Memorial Gardens with David Henslee, Greg Paris, Eddie Sellars, Joe Johnston, Jason Garris and Doug Gold serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are: Chase, Justin and Chris Henslee, Seth Hallums, Brenda & Thomas Curtin and Highland Christian Church. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, March 11th from 4-8 pm at Sellars Funeral Home at Mt. Juliet and Thursday, March 12th from 12-2 pm at the church.
